Please visit this site for the map of SP.

2. What is the programme like?
Ans: =) Something like this: There will be a skit, a speech by our religious advisor Ven. Chun Hui, our staff advisor Mr Soh Kim Fai, and our current President Mr Tobbie Poh.

3. I end work late on Monday. HOW???
Ans: The door of the SPBS (and for this matter, BS DAY 2005) is always open to you. You can come any time during the celebrations.

4. I'll starve, won't I?
Ans: There will a reception with finger food (and probably bee hoon and stuffs) at the end of the celebrations. =)

Hi all,

Short Intro on "BS Day" 2005: This event is proudly presented to Singapore Polytechnic Buddhist Society (SPBS) and friends of SPBS. It commemorates the passing of 39 glorious and happy years of the club.

Because at this point in time, the facility we have been trying to book has not yet been approved, SPBS cannot confirm our BS DAY 2005 Celebrations. However, we are hopeful that the facility booking will be successful. Please look out for my updates on this website these few days, yeah? For any enquries whereby you want quicker replies, give me a call (preferable) or SMS me.

So tentatively, the details of BS Day 2005 would be like this:

Date: 17th October 2005

Attire: Smart casual
Entrance fees: $0
"Pick-up service" available: 5.45pm at Dover MRT Control Station

An update of the progress of the BS Day Celebrations:

From 1 Sept - 30 Sept:

Semestral exam preparations, exams. BS Day 2005 proposal for Student Affairs Department done and submitted. Numerous discussions on programme, venue and date were held. Agreed: The celebrations will be held on 17th Oct.

1 Oct:

The application for booking of facility (Multi-purpose Lecture Theatre 2) was rejected. We felt frustrated. Why was the facility booking rejected?

2 Oct - 8 Oct:

Five key helpers of BS Day 2005 went on retreat in Malaysia. So, a lot of planning was left for Minggen (Chief Co-ordinator) to do.

10 Oct:

Why was the facility booking rejected? Well, the Student Affairs Department had misplaced our proposal. Hence, the BS Day Proposal was re-written and submitted to Student Affairs Dept. Skit planning started. MCs (Fu Yan and Helen) started writing their scripts too. Xinhao started to source for chants for the short Puja session during BS Day 2005. Ven Chun Hui was contacted to conduct a Dharma talk during BS Day 2005.

11 Oct:

Skit script draft completed. Skit and MC rehearsals conducted. (No intentions to advertise, I was really impressed with the teamwork and effort) Xinhao stayed at home to source for chants for the short Puja session. The booking of facility for BS Day was still not approved by the school.

Welcome to Singapore Polytechnic Buddhist Society's BS Day 2005 website. My name is Derrick and I will be the person updating this website. A short introduction of myself: -

I joined SPBS last July with the interest of learning more on buddhism. As I attended more activities, such as Dharma talks, meditation classes and Sing-a-Long sessions, I became very attached (pun intended) to this club. I soon started a slow shift in lifestyle to become a Buddhist practitioner. Since the club has given me so much knowledge, fun, laughter, peace, piti (wordly) and a strong sense of belonging, I have decided to stick to serving this club till the end of my studies at Singapore Polytechnic. At this juncture, I am the current Public Relations Officer of the SPBS Council (40th batch).
